I can't believe the myriad of designs and patterns evident in the garden in the early morning dew. Our chilly mornings are perfect for finding treasures in the gardenscape that quickly disappear once the sun melts the dew off the woven webs of art...
This section continues the theme of the secret artisan weaving his or her magic webs and looks at the apparent mystery of how secret webs mirror patterns evident in the garden, whether these be mottled bark or fencing mesh...Enjoy

I am blessed to live in the most beautiful place in the world; in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland hidden amongst rolling hills typical of dairy country. Although we live in Queensland the seasons are still distinguishable as four separate seasons that merge into wet and dry seasons. So this blog is about exploring the changes each season brings to the garden and sharing my impressions with other garden lovers.

Silent Artisans of the Winter Garden
This year, our dry Winter days usually start with crisp cool mornings and occasional frosts followed by perfect sunny days with clear blue skies. And during the short winter months the garden is an exquisitely beautiful place to visit in the early hours of the day with a steaming cup of tea in hand. On these early morning sojourns I’ve discovered hidden silent artistes working their intricate craft; gorgeously detailed spider-webs amongst the half- asleep rose bushes. The variously shaped webs are only visible while the early morning dew lingers. They form gorgeous mini vistas as the dew reveals their shapes, sparkling in the early morning sun. I couldn’t resist capturing these with my little digital camera even though I’m sure the photography is far from ideal ... but I delight in seeing these vignettes every morning and just had to share them with others who love the intricacies of the natural world.
Love the jagged intricacy outlined in dew drops...
Occasionally it’s possible to see the Secret Artisan resting after working hard all night!
And sometimes they look like they’re having fun just ‘hanging out’!
I love the colours in the background here. This web simply disappears in the full light of day!
Can’t help wondering what was going on the night before with this creation!
Winter: Silent Artisans of the Garden
While my science background keeps butting in to explore the species of spider responsible for each web, along with its habits and so on, so far I’m resisting and focussing purely on the aesthetics of these largely unseen spheres. So here’s the first in a series of themed photos following whatever whimsical trends as they become evident in the garden through each season of the year.
The first in this series is WINTER: SILENT ARTISANS OF THE GARDEN ... Enjoy
